Last Friday night, a driver was driving her car calmly on the A-4 heading out of Madrid when she noticed something strange between her feet.

When she looked she got a tremendous scare.

There was a snake between the pedals and her shoes.

She stopped as quickly as she could on the shoulder, got out of the car and called the police.

It was a corn snake that had gotten into her vehicle and did not belong to her.

The agents of the Municipal Police Traffic Unit were the first to arrive at the vehicle and notified the Environmental Patrol police officers.

According to a spokesperson for the Madrid Municipal Police, in an operation coordinated by several units,

a corn snake was successfully rescued from inside the vehicle

.

Specifically, the Environment Police Station and the Special Services Police Station intervened,

The snake, which was identified as a Corn Snake,

was safely transported to CRAS (Wild Animal Recovery Center)

.

According to sources from the Environment Commission, these snakes are known for being harmless and docile.

They get their name because of the similarity of their coloring pattern to ears of corn.

It is common for these snakes to look for sources of heat, which can lead them to hide inside vehicles, as in this case.

The Municipal Police are taking steps to try to identify the owner of this animal that has its distribution area in Maryland and New Jersey, reaching south to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
