Israeli occupation forces deploy around the Islamic cemetery in Hebron, claiming that the resistance fighter fired from it (French)

A Palestinian was killed by Israeli occupation forces who claimed that he opened fire on the Jewish neighborhood in the city of Hebron in the south of the West Bank, while raids and arrests continued in other areas of the West Bank.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that an armed clash took place between a Palestinian resistance fighter and a group of occupation soldiers in the Karantina area in central Hebron.

The Israeli army said - on the X platform - that a “terrorist” opened fire a short time ago on the Jewish neighborhood in Hebron, and there were no injuries and no damage.

He added that the soldiers were able to eliminate him, and that they are continuing to comb the area.

On the other hand, the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation explained that the Palestinian resistance fighter opened fire with a Kalashnikov assault rifle from the Islamic cemetery towards the Jewish neighborhood in Hebron.

The Israeli authority added that the security forces were able to eliminate him, wound and arrest another, without any casualties among the Israelis.

Eyewitnesses said that the occupation army deployed in the Old City of Hebron, and in the Islamic cemetery from which it is believed that the gunman opened fire towards a settlement outpost.

Journalists and activists circulated on social media platforms video clips of a gunman, believed to be in his fifties, shooting from inside the cemetery before he was killed, and other videos of Israeli army reinforcements and a number of Palestinians being arrested and subjected to inspection.

Raids and arrests

Also in Hebron, the occupation forces stormed the town of Bani Naim, east of the city, conducted their patrols in the town, and raided the house of a citizen whose son they had arrested at the Beit Ainun junction, northeast of Hebron, yesterday evening.

They also raided and searched other homes.

Israeli forces continued their raids into cities and towns in the West Bank as well, where they raided buildings in Nablus and arrested workers from the Gaza Strip.

It also stormed the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank from several fronts and conducted its patrols in various neighborhoods.

The Israeli occupation forces also stormed the villages of Qarawat Bani Zeid and Kafr Ain, northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) quoted local sources as saying that the occupation forces stormed the two villages and deployed in the alleys and streets, noting that no clashes were reported, or that any residents of the two villages were subjected to arrest.

On the other hand, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club said that the occupation forces arrested at least 20 people in various areas in the West Bank yesterday, including former prisoners.

This brings the number of prisoners since October 7 to more than 7,605 detainees.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive infrastructure destruction, which led to Israel being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.
