According to a media report, ten people were injured in a fire on the trouble-plagued British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

About 100 bunks were destroyed before the fire was extinguished after five hours, reports The Sun newspaper.

The Royal Navy told the paper: “An isolated fire was quickly brought under control.

This will have no impact on HMS Queen Elizabeth’s obligations.”

As the newspaper “The Mirror” reports, the incident happened a week ago.

This happened when the three billion pound (3.5 billion euro) flagship of the British Navy was anchored in the Scottish port of Glenmallan.

The fire broke out in an air conditioning unit.

Already missed NATO exercises in February

This is not the first incident with the “Queen Elizabeth,” which has been fully operational since 2021.

Most recently, the aircraft carrier was unable to take part in the largest NATO exercise in decades at the beginning of February due to a technical problem.

Instead, the sister ship “HMS Prince of Wales” set sail, which in turn had to abort the journey to joint exercises with the US and Canadian navies after a few miles at the end of August 2022 after damage to the propeller shaft occurred.
