The intelligence services note the emergence of a new generation of jihadists, sometimes very young.

Last year alone, 15 minors were indicted for acts of terrorism, as many as in the last four years.

These young people rely in particular on a perfect mastery of digital tools.

The phenomenon is rather worrying.

Last Sunday, in the

Sunday Journal

, Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, spoke of young people aged 11, 12 and 13, likely to participate in terrorist attacks.

Intelligence services note the emergence of a new generation of jihadists.

And the figures are particularly worrying.

Half of the Islamists implicated in attacks foiled since 2021 are under 20 years old.

Last year alone, 15 minors were indicted for acts of terrorism, as many as in the last four years.

Community themes

A rejuvenation which is accelerating with increasingly sophisticated operating methods since these young people can go so far as to obtain weapons on the Internet.

They also know social networks by heart and know how to use digital tools.

Another particularity of this generation: their ability to free themselves from their elders, the veterans of jihad.

They do not seek to show allegiance to Daesh or Al-Qaeda, but take up community themes according to which the French state is Islamophobic.

Citing for example the ban on the full veil, support for Israel or even the closure of private Muslim high schools.

All this is unbearable for them and these young people find in this argument a justification for their ultra-violence.
