At least 14 people have been killed in new Russian missile attacks on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa.

"Unfortunately, a medic and a civil defense employee died as a result of the Russian rocket attack," said the region's governor, Oleh Kiper, on Telegram.

The rescue workers rushed to the site of the impact after the first explosions and were killed in a second rocket strike.

There are also seriously injured people among the emergency services.

A total of 46 more people were injured.

According to civil defense, ten residential buildings and two fire trucks were damaged by the explosions.

Kiper ordered mourning in Odessa for Saturday.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for two years.

Odessa is a regular target of Russian missile and drone attacks.

A large part of Ukraine's grain exports are shipped from the port of Odessa.

The port facilities had also repeatedly become the target of massive Russian attacks.

Most recently, Odessa was also shelled during a visit there by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

According to Ukrainian information, at least five people were killed.
