Thousands of residents of northwestern Syria flocked to the demonstration squares, which they call “Freedom Squares,” in several cities in Idlib and the northern countryside of Aleppo, to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the “Syrian Revolution,” stressing its continuity and demanding “the overthrow of the Assad regime that destroyed their cities and displaced them.” Of which".

The demonstrators also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Syrian people, children and women, more than two million of whom live in displacement camps, as a result of their forced displacement from other governorates.

These squares have been witnessing gatherings since the beginning of the revolution in its first year, with peaceful demonstrations demanding “freedom and political reform.” They gathered today after 13 years, stressing that they will continue until “the overthrow of the regime and the achievement of freedom and dignity.”

Abu Alaa Al-Homsi, one of the organizers of the demonstration, told Al-Jazeera Net, “The fragrance of freedom that was on March 15, 2011, we inhale today, on March 15, 2024.” He added, “We came today to say: Down with Assad, and down with the Russian occupier. We send a message from The people tell the world that no one is betting on the collapse of the revolution, because it will continue until its victory is achieved and the Bashar al-Assad regime is overthrown.”

Revolutionary activist Abdel Nasser Al-Youssef added, “Our message to the world is that we will continue this revolution until we achieve its victory, because the Syrian people did not expect 13 years ago to say: No to Assad, and they said it. Therefore, we will say it loudly: No to Assad, no to injustice, no to oppression.” We have thousands of detainees and hundreds of thousands of martyrs, and we are following in their footsteps and path.”

In turn, Hajj Abu Muhammad said, "We are after 13 years in this revolution, and after the Security Council and the world failed us, and we were killed and displaced by Bashar al-Assad and Russia. We cannot retreat or stand, and we will continue in this revolution until the fall of al-Assad's regime."

Activist Omar Al-Akhras explained that “March 15 is the date of the emergence of the greatest revolutions in the world, which is the revolution of freedom and dignity against the greatest tyrant in the world. The result was hundreds of thousands of martyrs and detainees, displacement and the destruction of the country, but this will not stop us from standing up, but rather continuing until... Achieving freedom, dignity and victory.”

As for the diaspora from the city of Homs, Ahmed Al-Mansour, he said, “We are happy with the anniversary of the revolution, because Assad bet from its beginning that it would last only a few months, but today in the 13th year we are steadfast and persistent, and we are proud because we are steadfast in the face of the Russian war machine, and we say and will continue to say: No to the criminal Bashar.” Assad, and on the next anniversary we want to celebrate the victory in Damascus, we and all those displaced from their cities and villages.”
