The thick fog that this morning has affected the southern coastal area of Castellón has caused a multiple collision on the AP-7 highway near Nules with 40 vehicles involved, one fatality and several people injured.
According to sources from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center, in addition to the deceased man , emergency services
have treated
five people with
minor bruises
who are being transferred to the
La Plana de Vila-real hospital.
The Civil Guard has proceeded to
cut off traffic in both directions of the highway
after an accident that occurred in both directions of travel at
kilometer 455.
According to the Generalitat Emergencies, two units of the Urgent Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) and one of Basic Life Support (BLS) have been mobilized to the area.
Likewise, the Castellón Provincial Firefighters Consortium has mobilized troops from the Plana Baixa park to intervene and
free two people
.
One of the people, the
driver of a 3,500 kilo delivery truck, has died
and is being released from prison.
Another driver, that of a car, has been trapped and is being extricated by the fire services.
From Emergencies they have indicated that about 40 vehicles have been involved in the accident.
A large delay
is being recorded on the road
due to its closure.
The Civil Guard is diverting traffic along alternative routes until the work is completed and the road can be cleared.
The State Meteorological Agency has reported that this is an
episode of localized fog that will disperse at midday
, and therefore the conditions do not exist to issue a yellow weather alert.
It was very thick early in the morning although now there is more visibility.
