At the beginning of March, Ursula von der Leyen was dubbed by the European People's Party, the conservative right, but without gaining enough votes.
She is therefore the candidate of a party which asked her to adopt a harder line on immigration and a softer line on environmental standards.
Appointed by the heads of state in 2019, the German was confirmed before this chamber by a majority vote: supported by the EPP, but also the centrist Renew group and the socialists and democrats.
