Drug safety issues demonstrate the attitude of using justice to defend "safety on the tip of the tongue".
The Supreme People's Court issued four cases involving judicial protection of food safety for minors, one of which related to campus dining safety.
The illegally operated food of a company caused 18 students to become ill. The court supported the administrative agency in severely punishing the company in accordance with the law.
"We will sort out and summarize all cases that endanger the food safety of minors," said Cai Jinfang, deputy director of the First Civil Trial Division of the Supreme People's Court, and will instruct relevant departments to propose solutions to common problems to minimize, Reduce behaviors that endanger the food safety of minors.
The 10 typical cases of consumer rights protection procuratorial public interest litigation released by the Supreme People's Procuratorate focus on solving food and drug safety issues that are of high concern to consumers and have a negative impact, such as "human drugs for veterinary use" and illegal sales of overseas drugs.
In 2023, procuratorial organs nationwide filed more than 23,000 public interest litigation cases in the field of food and drug safety, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%.
According to statistics, the procuratorial organs investigated and dealt with approximately 330,000 kilograms of counterfeit and shoddy food last year, and approximately 8,880 kilograms of counterfeit, substandard and smuggled drugs.
When the "Two Highs" released the case, they also introduced the next work plan.
It is known that the court will further integrate the criminal, civil and administrative trial functions involving minors, and comprehensively strengthen the judicial protection of minors' food safety.
The procuratorial organs will focus on community group buying, online marketing, live streaming and other new business formats to carry out special supervision on food safety issues, including supervising the standardized development of the prepared vegetable industry, supervising the rectification of food and drug online live marketing chaos, and supervising the rectification of drug abuse problems, etc.
