The diplomat noted that Russia had already transferred significant gold reserves to the Romanian government once, this happened in 1935, then we were talking about 1,436 tons of valuables left over from tsarist times.

“Less than six years later, Romania attacked the USSR along with the Third Reich,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.

The diplomat proposed to count all Romanian debts to Russia and the Soviet Union.

“According to some experts, we will receive around 1365-1665 tons of gold, which is 20-25 times higher than the value of the entire Romanian gold reserve sent to Russia in 1916-1917,” said a Foreign Ministry representative.

The European Parliament previously demanded that Russia return its “national treasure” back to Romania, including its gold reserves and other cultural assets.

Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov, in a conversation with RT, called such demands “another Euro nonsense.”
