DRC: the final results of the legislative elections are now known
In the DRC, the configuration of the National Assembly is definitively formalized with the breakthrough of the presidential party which obtained additional seats during the dispute before the Constitutional Court after the legislative elections of December 20, 2023. Few appeals have been validated.
Among the 1,123 requests, only 43 were deemed founded.
In total, 43 deputies among the 477 elected officials were invalidated.
They will be replaced in the coming hours in the Assembly.

With at least five additional seats, the presidential party UDPS confirms its position as the main majority force.
He could claim the post of Prime Minister.
Even after losing four seats, Vital Kamerhe's UNC maintains its second place within the majority.
This is enough to claim the presidency of the National Assembly of the
DRC
, believe several of its executives who have difficulty digesting the loss of seats.
The biggest loser is Modeste Bahati whose group lost six seats, losing its third position.
Same thing for the AB50 bloc of Industry Minister Julien Paluku, who was stripped of three seats.
The opposition, however, remains in the minority with less than thirty seats out of the 477 filled at this stage.

Among those drafted by the Constitutional Court are three members of the government, two provincial governors from the North-East of the country, personalities such as the former Prime Minister Sammy Badibanga or the former boss of the Central Bank, Jean-Claude Masangu .
Even if this list is indisputable in law, several senior figures in power revealed “
material errors
” to RFI on Thursday evening and are studying possibilities for recourse in the face of certain cases that they consider “
egregious
”.
Another scenario, the two youngest members of the National Assembly office since January 202' were disembarked after the invalidation of their election confirmed by the electoral commission at the end of 2023.
