A man who was a close aide to opposition leader Navalny, who died in a Russian prison last month, was attacked and injured in Lithuania, where he was staying, an aid group said.

On the 12th, a group that supported Navalny, the opposition leader who continued to criticize Russia's Putin regime and died in prison last month, was attacked on social media by Leonid Volkov, a close aide of Navalny. It was revealed that it was done.

According to the group and independent media, Volkov had left Russia and was staying in a suburb of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, and on that day he was in his car near his home when he was pepper-sprayed by multiple people. Furthermore, since he was injured by being hit with a hammer, it is believed that the crime was aimed at Mr. Volkov.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Landsbergis condemned the incident on social media, saying, ``This is shocking news. The relevant authorities are acting. The perpetrators must be held accountable.''

It has been pointed out that the Putin administration may have been involved in Navalny's death, but the administration denies any involvement.

Presidential elections will be held in Russia from the 15th of this month, and Mr. Navalny's wife, Yulia, asked voters to go to polling stations at noon on the 17th, the last day of voting, to choose candidates other than Mr. Putin. The Russian authorities appear to be nervous about this move, as they are calling on all candidates to vote all at once.
