United States: Donald Trump requests postponement of his criminal trial against porn actress Stormy Daniels

Donald Trump requested this Monday, March 11, a postponement of his first criminal trial, which is supposed to open in New York on March 25.

This concerns his indictment in the affair of campaign money paid to buy the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels.

The former president's lawyers say this trial cannot begin until the Supreme Court has ruled on his request for immunity.

Among

the four criminal trials

that threaten

Donald Trump

, this is the only one that has not yet been delayed, and his lawyers have just filed a request with a Manhattan judge to postpone it

sine die

.

The Trump campaign is doing everything to ensure that no trial begins before the presidential election.

Their argument is simple: this case linked to the $130,000 paid to buy the silence of a porn actress cannot begin until the Supreme Court has ruled on the presidential immunity that Donald Trump is claiming.

Total immunity?

The former president has already used this argument to delay his main trial.

That for his role in the attack on the Capitol on January 6, the date of which is also suspended from this decision of the Supreme Court.

Donald Trump believes he would benefit from total immunity for all his acts as president.

A first appeals court has already rejected this argument.

But the Supreme Court has decided to study it and its hearings do not open until April 25, a month to the day after the date on which the

Manhattan trial is supposed to begin

.

The judge is expected to announce within the week whether or not he accepts the postponement request.
