“To conduct the training, a training military-political and strategic environment has been created, in the design of which a number of conventions have been adopted, the names of states and international organizations have been changed,” press secretary of the CSTO Joint Headquarters Vladislav Shchegrikovich told reporters.

According to the situation, one of the options for escalating potential threats in the organization’s area of responsibility is modeled and the emergence of a crisis situation in a conditional state of the Central Asian collective security region is envisaged.

CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that the training is being conducted in a difficult international situation, when old conflicts are escalating in various regions of the world and new hotbeds of tension are being provoked, including in the CSTO area of responsibility.

“Modern crises are increasingly acquiring a hybrid nature and require integrated approaches to resolve them,” Tasmagambetov said.

One of the goals of the training is to clarify the algorithm for collective anti-crisis actions and assess their effectiveness, taking into account the provisions of the decision “On measures to develop the CSTO crisis response system” adopted by the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 23, 2023, the Secretary General added.

The training is being conducted under the leadership of the Chief of the Joint Staff, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, who said that strategic command and staff training is a key event that determines the initial data for preparing the command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces “Indestructible Brotherhood - 2024”.

The exercises will be held in Kazakhstan this fall.
