Russian Navy ships began naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman

“A detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, consisting of the guards missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, began working out the practical tasks of the joint international naval exercise “Maritime Security Belt 2024” with ships of the Iranian and Chinese navies,” it says. statement. 

According to the department, the exercises are aimed at practicing safety at sea.

During the exercises, the ships of the three countries intend to perform joint maneuvering, as well as fire at surface and air targets.

In addition, the fleet will work on tasks to free a ship captured by pirates. 

It is clarified that more than 20 ships are involved in the exercises. 

On March 11, ships of the Pacific Fleet, led by the guards missile cruiser Varyag, arrived at the roadstead of the port of Chekhbehar in Iran.
