French artist Aya Nakamura was subjected to a racist attack after news spread that she might sing at the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

According to what was reported by local and international newspapers on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Nakamura is in the target of attacks by far-right supporters who accused her of “not representing France,” refusing to sing at an event like this.

The far-right group "Les Natives" hung banners in the streets of the capital, Paris, expressing their rejection of Nakamura, who has financial origins, singing in the opening of the Olympics.

In turn, the Olympic Organizing Committee expressed its feeling of "shock at the racist attacks against Aya Nakamura."

She announced "full support for the most famous and popular French artists on the international level."

As for Sports Minister Emily Odea Castera, she said to Nakamura, "It's okay, people love you, don't worry about anything."

According to an opinion poll published by the BFMTV media network, more than 60% of French people believe that Nakamura singing at the opening of the Paris Olympics is a “not a good idea.”

It is noteworthy that Nakamura, 28 years old, has a number of songs that have reached one billion subscribers on YouTube alone.
