  • Events A gang of 30 Georgians who robbed more than 200 apartments in Madrid falls

A group of neighbors on Villaamil street, in Tetuán (Madrid), caught a dangerous apartment thief on Thursday last week who was surprised after robbing one home and trying to do it at another.

The residents managed to throw the criminal to the ground and one of them, very large,

stood on top of him, preventing him from escaping.

They held him at the door of the building when he tried to escape.

Just at that moment a Madrid Municipal Police patrol was passing by the place and proceeded to arrest him.

There is no evidence in the proceedings, however, that he was attacked by neighbors.

After his arrest, he was treated at the area's health center with severe pain in his right ankle and transferred to the Tetouan National Police station.

The arrested person is an active thief from Georgia, 30 years old, with a police record.

He carried several tools and keys to commit the crimes and force the locks,

as well as several polo shirts and a vest with the intention of posing as an operator of some company.

They also confiscated a backpack with 1,900 euros and more than one hundred pieces of gold and silver such as pendants, rings, watches, necklaces, safety pins, bracelets and bangles.

He was accompanied by two other men who were able to escape and who the Police are still looking for.

The events occurred around 1:00 p.m. when a Municipal Police patrol car encountered a crowd of people on the street and one of them on the ground.

When they approached, several individuals began to shout that "

they were holding a man who had robbed a house at number 7 Villaamil Street to prevent him from escaping

from him, and that two others had managed to escape without being able to be identified."

One of the neighbors said that he passed the alleged thief on the landing of the stairs on the way to his house, and that when he arrived at his door it was wide open.

This resident immediately became suspicious of this person and began to follow him down the stairs while shouting "thief, thief."

Finally, several neighbors were able to reach him right in the doorway and knock him down.

The intervention of a burly neighbor meant that he did not move from the place despite the violent resistance and the screams he gave,

according to witnesses.

«He stood on top of the criminal and did not move.

"He acted proportionally and the necessary force was used," said yesterday one of the neighbors who intervened in his arrest.

The arrested person, who was carrying a dark gray backpack with the DELL brand logo, was searched in that same place by the agents and

in one of the pockets he was carrying the 1,900 euros in 50 and 20 bills.

Inside the backpack he had a multitude of jewelry, tools and utensils for opening doors, Allen keys, a white jar with elongated gold-colored aluminum papers to mark the notches of the key, lock picks and master keys.

In addition, she also wore five Lotus, Viceroy, Citizen, Cartier and Certina watches, as well as 11 gold rings, three silver ones and a wooden box with several Aressio brand cufflinks.

In one he kept

11 pairs of earrings of different colors and models and in another box 13 earrings and seven pendants in silver and dark blue tones.

Likewise

,

she wore six necklaces, hairpins, safety pins, gold chains, bird-shaped brooches, silver pins with green flowers, bracelets, bangles with the engraved names of several people, and pendants in the shape of a cross and a virgin.

The agents are now trying to find out the ownership of all these objects supposedly stolen

in the area during these days, although they have already been able to confirm that at number 7 Villaamil Street the thief robbed a third-floor home and tried the same in another before his encounter with the neighbors of the farm.
