And considers the answers provided insufficient.

A burning car thrown against a bank branch.

This is the incident which mobilized around thirty firefighters on Sunday March 10 in the Monnaie district of Romans-sur-Isère, in Drôme.

A town in which most of the 11 new individuals arrested in connection with the death of young Thomas, 16, stabbed during a ball in Crépol on the night of November 18 to 19 reside.

Guest of Europe 1 evening, this Tuesday, Marie-Helène Thoraval, the mayor (DVD) of Romans-sur-Isère confirmed this “resurgence of delinquency” which is poisoning the lives of residents, particularly in this sensitive Monnaie district.

The city councilor evokes, in a jumble, "acts of incivility which are evident on the territory of the city", but also "hit-and-runs, refusals to comply, the staging of rodeos..." .

“One-off actions”

A degraded situation, which had nevertheless improved slightly after the Crépol tragedy, according to Marie-Hélène Thoraval.

If she recognizes that the authorities pay "particular attention to the municipality", ensuring in particular to benefit from "reinforcements in the event of difficult situations", she also considers that these measures constitute "one-off actions" while her municipality would require "a policy which is part of the long term with the desire to contain these phenomena of delinquency".

Marie-Hélène Thoraval uses the example of drug trafficking to illustrate the complexity of the situation.

“There are indeed 'clean up' operations which are carried out by the national police and with reinforcements. But when you attack a deal point, what you are going to dismantle or destroy on D-Day, we will find it elsewhere on D+ 2".

Responses deemed insufficient

Without trying to "turn the table", the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère nevertheless believes that the responses provided by state services are, for the moment, insufficient.

“We are told about a Beauvau for the prevention of delinquency. But we need a Beauvau for the treatment of delinquency,” she believes.

According to her, the current measures cannot produce the expected effects due to the profile of the offenders.

“These are people who absolutely do not have the same codes as us. These measures could apply to people who have an education. But here, we are faced with people who, for some, are not civilized” , she concludes.
