The official Israeli Broadcasting Authority (KAN) reported that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant proposed that Palestinian Authority Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj take over the administration of the Gaza Strip temporarily, after the end of the war.

The commission said that Israel is considering using the head of Palestinian intelligence to build an alternative to the rule of the Hamas movement the day after the war.

The proposal stipulates that Majid Faraj will take over the administration of Gaza with the help of figures who do not include a member of the Hamas movement.

Sources familiar with the discussions said that Faraj was not the only name that Israel was considering the possibility of naming responsible for the administration of Gaza the day after the war.

Preferred option

But the leader of the opposition in Israel, Yair Lapid, said, "It is natural for us to mention Faraj's name, as he is in the Palestinian Authority one of the figures who worked most with us against Hamas."

He added in a television interview, "The civil service has no obstacle to working with the Palestinian Authority, because even today it works with them. The government must decide whether it will deal with politics or Israel's security. If it is about Israel's security, we will work with the Palestinian Authority."

He continued, "We will only guarantee our security, and not suggest relying on the Palestinian Authority in the war on terrorism."

Majed Faraj's name has previously been proposed as a possible alternative to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

According to Israeli press reports, Majid Faraj (61 years old) is the most powerful and senior security figure in the Palestinian Authority and is considered close to Abbas, and has excellent relations with senior Israeli security officials.

According to these reports, Majid Farah coordinates on behalf of the authority with the Shin Bet, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Arab and Western intelligence agencies.

This comes as leaks indicate that Washington is pressuring Tel Aviv to present a vision of its vision for managing Gaza after the end of the war.

Netanyahu document

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented to the mini-ministerial council a document of principles related to the policy of the day after the Gaza war.

The document includes Israel retaining its freedom to operate in the entire Gaza Strip without a time limit, and it also includes establishing a security zone in the Strip adjacent to Israeli towns.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that Netanyahu's document also stipulates that Israel will maintain the southern closure on the border between Gaza and Egypt, and also includes a clause to close UNRWA and replace it with other international relief agencies.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that the ministers of the small security ministerial council did not vote to approve Netanyahu’s document.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, a humanitarian catastrophe, massive infrastructure destruction, and famine in a number of areas, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “ Genocide".
