Gaza -

The residents of Gaza look with bewildered eyes, unable to describe the feeling of Ramadan coming, and their conditions have changed from light to darkness, and from decorations and lanterns to the scenes of carrying coffins, and from hearing the sounds of joy for its arrival to hearing the sound of raids and intense bombing.

Hajja Amna Ibrahim recalls her memories and tells Al Jazeera Net, "I remembered Ramadan decorations every year and our days before its arrival, and the lanterns and the children, and the corner market, and our interest in changing the tablecloths and our gathering at Suhoor."

She added, "We used to buy light curtains and children's toys, and we would wake up to the sound of the masaharati drum and the sounds of the mosques. Above all, the gathering of the whole family was complete, without lacking in anyone's laughter. But today, there is no table, no masaharati, or lanterns."

As for Raja Ismail, she says with regret, "Ramadan this year is sad. We were not able to meet with the whole family. Our children and adults are grieving and oppressed. They have all lost loved ones, friends, and relatives. There are no decorations, no lanterns, and no peace of mind. Food is not available. We wear clothes that are not appropriate for Ramadan."

The residents of the Gaza Strip welcomed Ramadan this year on the 157th day under bombardment, starvation, and the sounds of intense raids that left dozens of martyrs and wounded, and new deaths were recorded due to food shortages.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 31,112 Palestinians were martyred, and 72,760 others were injured, as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October.
