France: the administrative court confirms the expulsion to Morocco of imam Hassan Iquioussen

Moroccan imam Hassan Iquioussen will not return to France.

The Paris administrative court rendered its decision this Monday evening.

It was seized after the expulsion of the imam in January 2023 following anti-Semitic remarks and hatred towards women and non-Muslims.

But the court did not cancel his expulsion.

The administrative judge considers that Hassan Iquioussen committed repeated acts of provocation to hatred or violence against Jews, non-Muslims and women, despite his ties to France.

Comments of particular gravity, underlines the administrative court.

But for Imam Iquioussen's lawyer, Lucie Simon, these comments do not justify an expulsion. "

He is

accused in full

of having said that women needed their dose of beautiful words to be fulfilled or even that the man was the driving force of the family.

These are retrograde, regrettable speeches, but which do not seem to us to constitute a serious threat to the security of the State, and in any event, to justify the expulsion of a man who was born in France and who has every her family

 ,” she believes.

Appeal this decision

The court adds that the imam's children and wife, who live in France, could join him in Morocco and that this expulsion therefore does not excessively infringe on respect for his private life.

The imam will appeal.

Mr. Iquioussen will obviously appeal this decision.

He is a little taken aback, taken aback to see that comments from 10 to 20 years ago are being repeated, that his apologies are not even mentioned in the decision

,” continues Me Lucie Simon, Imam Iquioussen’s lawyer.

Hassan Iquioussen, a preacher from the north of France and registered with S, fled to Belgium when Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin requested his expulsion in 2022, before being found and

deported to Morocco in 2023
