The people of the Gaza Strip face a war of bombing and starvation during the month of Ramadan (Al Jazeera)

An Al Jazeera correspondent reported that dozens of Palestinians were martyred and injured in an Israeli bombing that targeted the cities of Gaza, Jabalia, Khan Yunis, and Rafah on the second day of Ramadan. While the war of starvation continued in the northern Gaza Strip, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) accused Israel of prohibiting the entry of medicines and life-saving materials into... Gaza strip.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said that the number of victims of the Israeli bombing of Palestinians waiting for aid near the Kuwait Roundabout, west of Gaza City, rose to 9 martyrs and dozens of injured.

Al Jazeera's correspondent also confirmed that 17 people were killed and others injured as a result of an Israeli bombing of the Abu Shamala family home in the Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

In turn, Palestinian media confirmed that there were several casualties in an Israeli bombing that targeted a house in the Saudi neighborhood, west of the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

A number of injured people, including children, arrived at the hospital.

In Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, an Al Jazeera correspondent said that violent Israeli bombing was targeting Hamad Town.

Occupation aircraft also bombed Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip, and launched a raid on the Tal al-Zaatar area, north of the Gaza Strip.

In the center of the Gaza Strip, an Al Jazeera correspondent reported that at least one Palestinian was martyred and others were injured as a result of an Israeli bombing on the home of the Abu Sinjar family in Deir al-Balah.

Violent and ongoing clashes are taking place between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation forces in the eastern regions of Deir al-Balah, coinciding with violent artillery shelling.

Earlier yesterday, Monday, Al Jazeera's correspondent said that Israeli warplanes launched raids described as violent on the Al-Rimal neighborhood, in the center of Gaza City.

Pictures showed rising columns of smoke resulting from the Israeli raids.

Prohibition of medicines

Internationally, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, accused the Israeli occupation army of prohibiting the entry of critical aid, including artificial respirators and cancer medications, into Gaza.

Lazzarini said, in a post on his account on the

He explained that Israel refused to enter a truck loaded with medical aid, because it contained scissors used in medical kits for children.

He continued, "Medical scissors are now added to a long list of prohibited items that the Israeli authorities classify as dual-use."

He explained that the list includes basic and life-saving materials, including anesthesia medications, solar lights, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, water cleaning tablets, cancer medications, and maternity supplies.

He stressed that the process of allowing the passage of humanitarian supplies and the delivery of basic and vital materials must be facilitated and accelerated, because the lives of two million people depend on it.

Starvation war

In a related context, with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, residents of the northern Gaza regions face a scarcity of basic materials in light of the Israeli war on the Strip, the imposed siege, and the closure of relief access points.

UNICEF spokesman Ricardo Perez stressed the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the war, describing the situation of children in the Strip as catastrophic.

Peres said in a previous interview with Al Jazeera that the lives of hundreds of thousands of children are now in danger due to the delayed arrival of aid.

In turn, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced, on Monday, that 2,000 medical staff in the northern Strip did not find anything to break their fast with on the first day of Ramadan.

Ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qudra said in a statement that medical teams are exposed to the famine that is striking northern Gaza, and called on international and relief institutions to provide meals to hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip.

As a result of the war and Israeli restrictions, the residents of Gaza, especially the Gaza and North governorates, are on the verge of famine, in light of a severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, with the displacement of about two million Palestinians from the Strip, which has been besieged by Israel for 17 years.

The 2.3 million residents of the Gaza Strip received the month of Ramadan under Israeli bombardment, displacement and famine, while the Palestinians consider it the most difficult Ramadan ever for the residents of Gaza, due to the lack of electricity, water, and a bite of food for suhoor or iftar.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, a humanitarian catastrophe, massive infrastructure destruction, and famine in a number of areas, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “ Genocide".
