The ambassador stated this in an interview with LRT radio station.

“I would like to emphasize that our continued stay in Lithuania is of an indefinite nature,” McDonald said. 

According to her, after 2026, when the United States intends to reconsider the strategy of deploying its troops abroad, the situation for Lithuania will not change.

“Everything will remain the same, planning is already underway,” she concluded.

A battalion-level replacement contingent of the US Army has been stationed in Lithuania since April 2014 as part of the Atlantic Resolve mission.

Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Poland wants to increase the contingent of US troops on its territory.
