Shock in the United Kingdom after learning of the tragic accident in which one of its citizens who worked as a police officer in Australia lost his life.
Liam Trimmer
, 29, died Sunday while celebrating his engagement party.
Trimmer suffered a fall and
cut the carotid artery in his neck
, according to the

.
Although the people who were with him tried to revive him, they could do nothing to save his life.
Western Australia Police Commissioner Col Blanch described Trimmer as a "qualified young man with his whole life ahead of him" and told local media that this is a "really difficult time for the police."
"
Everything possible was done to try to save him
, but it was not possible. I know that everyone affected is very hurt. I think they wish they could wake up from this nightmare," Blanch told News Perth,
