The signatories called for not to confuse being a Muslim with being an extremist (European)

More than 50 victims of terror attacks in the UK have signed a joint open letter calling for an end to anti-Muslim hatred.

This comes at a time when the Minister for Local Communities, Michael Gove, is preparing to issue a new official definition of extremism within days.

He warned the victims that it was “the height of irresponsibility” on the part of some politicians to equate “being a Muslim with being an extremist,” according to the British PA Media agency on Sunday.

The letter added: "The single most important thing we can do is to isolate extremists and terrorists from the vast majority of British Muslims, who deplore such violence."

Signatories include survivors and relatives of those killed in attacks in the UK and around the world.
