CEO of the "TOG" electric car company, Gurcan Karakash, said that Turkey has become a leader in the electric car industry thanks to the new models, of which he expects nearly one million cars to be produced by 2030.

Qaraqash added in his interview with Al Jazeera Net that the journey of the TOG car began in 2018 when the company was officially established and began building industrial sectors. He added that the car is “one of the important projects of the Turkish state with the participation of the private sector. We established the project when we found that Turkey has a history extending for 60 years in Manufacturing and producing cars without having their own brand.

He described the project as "a milestone in the Turkish technology journey, and it is more than just a car. It is more like a smart device within a digital platform that has a supporting infrastructure and technology that includes charging systems with clean energy."

The dialogue came after a presentation about the Turkish car “Tog”, at a reception at the Ankara Embassy in Doha, which brought together participants in the Turkish Technology Initiative and representatives of Turkish companies participating in the “Qatar Web Summit 2024”.

Qaraqash spoke about the company’s endeavor to “increase the production plan from 18,000 to 20,000,” noting that they have already delivered about 20,000 cars to the list of purchase orders.

He added to Al Jazeera Net, "As you know, Turkey has been calling, over the past 6 years, for the development of this field and its entry into a new phase, because we see an important opportunity to enter the new field of transport and communications, where the automobile industry turns to alternatives that benefit from the development of technology and take into account the protection of the ecosystem."

He pointed out that the year 2025 will be the launch date of the TOG fastback electric car, known as (T10F).

He said: “We presented our second smart car, the Fastback model, in a model that mimics the spirit of the times, at CES 2024, which is the largest electronic products exhibition in the world, organized annually in Las Vegas, USA.”

He stressed that the company's goal is to launch the Tog "Fastback" car and begin delivering it to users as of March and April 2025, starting from Turkey.

Regarding exports to Europe, Qaraqash confirmed that the “TOG” company is determined to support the Turkish export sector and expand in European markets.

He explained, "Export efforts are continuing, and the company has a positive outlook for the coming period, and hopes to expand in the European market by entering the German market first, starting at the end of 2024, to demonstrate its ability to compete."
