The occupation deployed about 23 military battalions in the West Bank and Jerusalem (French)

The Israeli occupation forces assassinated a Palestinian in the West Bank at a time when they intensified their raids on a number of Palestinian cities and towns, and the number of detainees in the West Bank reached more than 7 thousand detainees, which prompted the Palestinian Authority to demand that the United Nations provide international protection for the Palestinians in the West Bank.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that several people were injured during the Israeli occupation forces carrying out an assassination operation inside a commercial store in the town of Attil, north of Tulkarm in the West Bank. The occupation army said that forces from the Duvdevan unit and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) killed a Palestinian in the village of Zeta in Tulkarm who was planning what it called " "Terrorist operation."

Al Jazeera's correspondent also said that two Palestinians were injured by occupation bullets in the town of Attil, north of Tulkarm, after shooting at citizens and press crews.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent said that a Palestinian was seriously injured in the town of Allar near Tulkarm. Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that the occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Issawiya, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, and arrested 6 Palestinians.

A video clip published by activists showed the occupation forces handcuffing six citizens from behind, while one of the soldiers tied them with a rope and dragged them in a humiliating manner.

Intrusions

The occupation forces also stormed the Tariq Bin Ziyad Junction area, south of the city of Hebron. Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that the occupation forces fired poison gas bombs there.

The Israeli occupation forces also stormed the Suleiman Pools tourist area, located between the town of Al-Khader and the village of Artas, south of Bethlehem.

As part of the repeated raids by the occupation army, the occupation forces carried out a large raid in the city of Qalqilya on the first day of Ramadan, including the arrest of a number of young men and a paramedic, in addition to firing live bullets at citizens.

Armed clashes took place between resistance fighters and the occupation forces during their massive storming of Qalqilya, while the occupation forces arrested a young man after storming his house in the city.

The occupation army raided several areas in Qalqilya, and the occupation soldiers fired live bullets directly at young men in the Kafr Saba neighborhood, coinciding with the arrest of a paramedic after storming his home in the neighborhood, in addition to the arrest of a freed prisoner.

The occupation forces also bulldozed land in the village of Husan, west of Bethlehem, and uprooted dozens of olive and grape trees.

The head of the Husan Village Council stated that the land that was bulldozed by the occupation forces is 4 dunums in area (a dunum is equal to a thousand square metres), in the area between Husan and Nahalin.

The Chairman of the Council revealed that the aim of the bulldozing operation is to expand settlement Road No. 60, which extends from the main western entrance to the villages of the western countryside all the way to Husan.

Earlier, the occupation forces attacked a citizens’ protest against the leveling of lands in the village of Husan, west of Bethlehem.

Settler attacks

On the other hand, 3 citizens were injured when a group of settlers attacked some citizens in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.

The attackers raided the village under the pretext of losing some sheep and tried to steal the farmers’ livestock, according to what residents of the area reported to Al Jazeera. The residents called the Israeli police, but it did not prevent the settlers from continuing their attacks, according to residents’ testimonies.

Local sources reported that the settlers came from the Karmiel settlement and other settlements established on citizens’ lands and property in Masafer Yatta, and attacked the Fatih Sidra area, spraying citizens with pepper gas and beating them.

In the same context, the occupation forces chased livestock herders and farmers in Wadi Al-Jawaya, near the village of Al-Tuwanah, in Masafer Yatta, and arrested a citizen while grazing his sheep in that area.

The colonists sprayed the citizens with pepper gas and beat them, causing three of them to suffer bruises and suffocation. One of them was taken to the hospital, and the other two were treated in the field.

Arrests

On the other hand, the Commission for Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced that the Israeli occupation forces arrested at least 25 Palestinians from the West Bank, including children and former prisoners, from yesterday evening, Sunday, until Monday morning. The arrests were distributed in the governorates of Ramallah, Qalqilya, Salfit, and Bethlehem.

Thus, the number of detainees in the West Bank has risen to 7,530 since October 7, including those who have been released and others who are still in detention.

International protection

In the context of the increasing attacks on Palestinian citizens by the occupation army and settlers, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that Israel is turning the West Bank, including Jerusalem, into a military barracks, to harass the Palestinian people and mislead the world that it is being targeted.

The Foreign Ministry said, “The occupying state deliberately deploys more than 23 battalions in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as if it is reoccupying it by force again, in addition to thousands of battalions and police teams that are sweeping the city of Jerusalem under the pretext of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. It also deployed more than 750 military checkpoints throughout the length and breadth of the West Bank, and the closure of checkpoints and iron gates erected at the entrances to villages, towns and cities.

She added, "These escalatory practices ignite new tensions on the conflict scene," stressing that "the occupation's military checkpoints and iron gates do not have any security function. Rather, they are used to impose more collective punishment on Palestinian citizens, to torture and humiliate them."

The Foreign Ministry called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to activate the international protection system for the Palestinian people, stressing that the military logic based on the brutality of force does not provide security and stability to anyone.
