The

Boixos Nois

(

Crazy Boys

in Catalan) are a group of FC Barcelona ultras created at the end of 1981 at the southern end of the Camp Nou.

Within it, four sections were created almost immediately: Super Boixos, Front Supporters, Moderates and Canteranos.

In 1986, a new Madrid faction (Boixos Centre) was added by two students known as Pitu and Trendy.

Another teenager, Gussy, was added to these in September of that same year.

They all met at the Peña Blaugrana in Madrid, which at that time had its headquarters in the Almirante cafeteria, on the street of the same name.

The seed of Boixos Center was a youth section of said Peña Blaugrana in Madrid.

This youth section had been created in 1984. The first contact with the original Boixos was established with people from Supporters Barça and the first meeting with them that took place in Barcelona was at the Hesperia hotel in February 1986.

Their first trip was to the European Cup final against Steaua, which Barça lost on penalties.

And the first time a Boixos Center banner was hung was in a Barcelona-Real Madrid match, in May 1987.

I talk to Gussy: «It is said that the original Boixos Nois represent a split from the

Morenos

, who were bodyguards of President Núñez, at a time when there was a lot of dissension with the board.

Originally, there were heavies, rockers, among them.

Ideologically, they were ultra-Catalanists.

The first skins were communist or Red Skins, although over time skins of all ideologies joined.

Finally, the Casuals appeared, which is another story.

Among the founders of Boixos were ultras like Toni (PM) Valeriano (

Carabruta

), Mario (

Piraña

), although later people like Manel Homar, Xavi Melgosa and Lluís Sureda took the reins.

I ask Gussy about his experience as a fanatic Barcelona fan in Madrid: «It was like being a Christian in the time of the catacombs.

You were in hostile territory and you couldn't brag much about your story either.

On one occasion, I put my address in the Italian magazine

Guerin Sportivo

, which was like

Don Balón

.

At the end of the magazine I put my name and address to exchange material with other ultras, thinking that none of my enemies would read

Guerin Sportivo.

It was a mistake.

I know that some Southern Ultras have come to my house to beat me, although they never hunted me down.

I have always tried to protect myself a lot.

"They never located me."

Since 1990, the Boixos Center was linked to Alcobendas.

«

Javier Marugán

contacted us, becoming an important ultra of Boixos and Frente Atlético.

He was from Alcobendas.

The first contact we had with him was at the Calderón in an Atleti-Barça 88-89 match and that's when he started to become interested in the section.

He would have been 17 years old.

He was seen with brutal self-confidence, with charisma, etc.

He moved a lot of people.

He brought people from Alcobendas, from San Sebastián de los Reyes.

From there the Boixos Center grew a lot.

Thanks to this, the maximum number of members we have had was 125 in the 92-93 season;

125 guys in Madrid.

Marugán was worth a lot, and he gave him a lot of eggs.

He gave her tremendous eggs.

J., a Frente Atlético fan and friend of Marugán, tells me about him: «I remember one day when someone hit a guy from Frente Atlético at the

Overdrive

nightclub .

Marugán went to look for them and hit all three of them.

He came from a normal family, his father was a taxi driver.

On one occasion, Marugán met Cadenas, the symbol of the Ultras Sur, at the gate of Attica, and nothing happened to him, due to the respect he had for him.

Today his death is still commemorated in the ultra world.

Gussy: «He was very respected by both the Boixos and the people of Frente Atlético.

And that's the host."

Marugán

died in a traffic accident at the age of 21, on November 27, 1994, but he left an indelible mark on the ultra world.

Marugán fell asleep at the wheel when he was heading to Barcelona to watch a Barça-Sevilla game.

The people of Boixos and Frente Atlético got along well in the early 90s.

On January 30, 1993, five coaches from Boixos de Barcelona came to watch Real Madrid-Barça, who would be joined by a large group from the Center section and the Atlético Front.

However, with the death of Marugán and the spread of independence among the Catalan Boixos, the link between both groups weakened.

The relationship with other ultra groups has always been ambiguous.

As Gussy tells me: «Against Osasuna it was the first trip to Pamplona.

It was a time of not as many restrictions as now and we were with the players at the hotel,

Gary Lineker

even signed a flag for me.

That day we were in the background with the Indar Gorri, when there was a good relationship with them, except for a small incident when an ultra from Osasuna shouted 'Gora ETA' and there was an attempt at a fight as the Hipercor attack had taken place that same year. .

Today, the Boixos Center section has disappeared, like so many others, apparently by decision of the bosses of Barcelona.

According to L.: "If Marugán were still alive today, the section would have continued moving

forward

."
