The Lebanese authorities reported that one person was killed and at least five others were injured in an Israeli bombing that targeted the Baalbek area in northeastern Lebanon early on Tuesday, coinciding with the Israeli army’s announcement of targeting two Lebanese Hezbollah buildings in the same area, which is about 100 kilometers from its borders.

Baalbek Governor Bashir Khader said in a post on the “X” platform, “Baalbek-Hermel Governorate was subjected to a number of Israeli raids, targeting Dorus, Taria, and Shamstar.”

Khader added that the Israeli raid on the town of Durus targeted an olive oil factory, and led to the martyrdom of one person.

For its part, the official Lebanese Information Agency said that an Israeli air strike targeted a warehouse west of Baalbek, between the towns of Shamstar and Taria.

In turn, Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that 6 people were injured in the Israeli raid that targeted the vicinity of the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon.

Two Hezbollah buildings

On the other hand, the Israeli occupation army said that its fighters targeted two buildings belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah in the Bekaa region in Lebanon.

He added that the two buildings belonged to Hezbollah's air force, which was planning to launch strikes against Israel.

The Israeli army said that the attack came in response to Hezbollah's use of drones to attack the Golan region in recent days.

Earlier yesterday, Monday, Hezbollah announced launching a drone attack on an Israeli air defense headquarters in the occupied Golan Heights.

The party confirmed that its forces targeted the air and missile defense headquarters in the Kaila barracks with 4 marches, and announced that it hit the targets accurately, according to its description.

Previous strikes

About two weeks ago, Israeli fighter jets bombed Hezbollah sites in the vicinity of Baalbek for the first time since the beginning of the war on Gaza, killing two members of the party, who responded with intense missile strikes on Israeli sites.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed an exchange of fire between the Israeli army on the one hand, and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other hand, which led to deaths and injuries on both sides of the border.

Recently, Israeli threats to expand attacks on Lebanese territory have escalated unless Hezbollah fighters withdraw away from the border with northern Israel.
