The confrontations in Sudan began during Ramadan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (French)

The resolution issued by the United Nations Security Council, last Friday, regarding a truce and ceasefire in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces during the month of Ramadan, sparked widespread controversy among the audience on social media platforms in the country, and opinions regarding it were divided between welcoming and rejecting the resolution.

Tweeters said that the truce has components and principles, and they asked whether the Sudanese citizen can fast at his home in the city of Khartoum, Madani, El Geneina, or Zalingei?

Who protects people from RSF violations and thieves?

How will the basics of life, such as electricity, water, etc., be provided?

What are the mechanisms of agreement?

Bloggers pointed out that no rational person would accept a temporary truce without working to permanently stop the war under one condition, which is the presence of one army in the country.

I do not think that there is any rational person who would accept a temporary truce. Everyone must work to achieve a permanent cessation of the war under the condition of the presence of one army

Some bloggers commented on the decision by saying that the ceasefire means that what they described as the militias will rearrange their ranks and gather their forces, adding that the Sudanese people support the ceasefire not only in Ramadan but forever, but on the condition that the militias leave homes, government departments and outside the cities.

Truce Khartoum citizen Displaced citizen of Al Jazeera Displaced citizen of Darfur Displaced Heavy support occupies citizens’ homes How is a truce? What right do you have to buy and sell from us? Who authorized you? Truce These militias leave the areas occupied by markets, homes, and hospitals

Commentators wondered how long Sudan would live in a truce without a clear plan to stop the fighting, return life to normal, and allow people to return to their homes without anyone breaking into their homes, assaulting them, or robbing them.

You ignited this war in Ramadan, and we are the ones who decide when it will stop. It is impossible to stop it in Ramadan or after Ramadan without completely eliminating the rebellion and achieving the goals of the Battle of Dignity in defeating the rebellion, recovering what was looted and stolen, and pursuing murderers and criminals internationally.

Others mocked the decision by saying, “Britain, which presented the project and was approved by the Security Council, is more keen than the Sudanese themselves to stop the fighting during the month of Ramadan, pointing out that any truce means breathing new life into the forces of Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) and committing more violations and crimes against the people.” Sudanese,” according to one of them.

On the other hand, others welcomed the announcement of a humanitarian truce by the Security Council in which the fighting would stop within a month, and they said that the war in the country began during the month of Ramadan last year and is approaching the completion of its first year.

When the people of the country and those who have weapons, solutions, and connections let us down, we wait for initiatives from overseas.

In general, we welcome any initiative that would stop the fighting and return the displaced and refugees to their homes.

Bloggers commented that the Sudanese people suffered greatly as a result of the fighting between the army and the Rapid Support, and it is time for the people to catch their breath during the month of Ramadan. They appealed to the leadership of the army and the Rapid Support to respond to these international calls to stop the fighting during Ramadan.

We warmly welcome the news of a British draft resolution submitted to the UN Security Council and an appeal to the #United_Nations to declare a humanitarian truce in which the fighting stops during the month of #Ramadan.

This damned war began during the month of Ramadan last year and is approaching the completion of its first year.

Our people suffered greatly as a result of this...

Yasser Al-Atta, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, confirmed - on Saturday - that there is no truce during Ramadan, at a time when the Rapid Support Forces welcomed a draft UN resolution stipulating a truce between the two sides during the holy month.
