The story "Area of Interest" revolves around a family living in a house and garden near a Nazi concentration camp, and stars German actor Christian Friedel, who plays the role of Auschwitz camp commander Rudolf Höss, while Sandra Höller plays his wife Hedwig.

Höss is one of the oldest officers in Nazi Germany, and is known as one of the planners of genocide operations during World War II.

Most of the events of "Area of Interest" revolve around the boredom of family life, with no footage shown from inside the Nazi concentration camp, while background sounds and rising smoke indicate the atrocities being committed inside.
