The Gaza Strip lost about 86% of its natural production during Israel’s war on the Strip (Al Jazeera)

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said that the Palestinian economy suffered production losses estimated at $2.3 billion during the first four months of the Israeli occupation aggression.

The statistics explained - in a statement - that there is an almost complete halt in the production of private sector establishments in the Gaza Strip, and an unprecedented decline in the West Bank.

Preliminary estimates indicated that the production of economic sectors in the West Bank during the first four months of the Israeli occupation aggression lost 27% compared to the normal rate of production during these four months, with a loss estimated at about 1.5 billion dollars.

On the other hand, the Gaza Strip lost 86% of its natural production during the same period, equivalent to $810 million, which will have a negative impact on public revenues in Palestine.

The number of private sector establishments in Palestine will reach about 176,000 establishments in 2023, distributed as 56,000 establishments in the Gaza Strip, and 120,000 establishments in the West Bank.

The internal trade sector constitutes the largest percentage in the Gaza Strip, amounting to 56% of the total establishments, followed by the services sector with 30%, while the percentage of the industrial sector was about 10%. As for the rest of the economic activities (construction, transportation and storage, information and communications, finance and insurance). ), constituting 4% of the total number of establishments.

The Central Bureau of Statistics noted in a statement - reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) on Monday - that the majority of workers in the Gaza Strip have been unemployed, with the exception of workers in the health and humanitarian relief sectors.

The number of workers in the private sector last year reached about 522 thousand workers, 349 thousand workers in the West Bank, and 173 thousand workers in the Gaza Strip.
