Météo France places six departments on orange alert for rain, floods, risks of floods or avalanches this Sunday.

The departments concerned are: Ardèche, Charente-Maritime, Gard, Gironde, Var, and Alpes-Maritimes.

Six departments have been placed on orange alert for Sunday by Météo France in the center and south of the country, for rain, floods, risk of floods or avalanches.

Ardèche (07), Charente-Maritime (17), Gard (30), Gironde (33) and Var (83) will be on orange alert for the risk of flooding.

Orange rain-flood warning for the Alpes-Maritimes (06), Ardèche (07) and Var (83), and finally avalanches for the Alpes-Maritimes (06).

The Loire and Haute-Loire downgraded to yellow flood vigilance

Hérault, which had been placed on orange flood alert on Saturday afternoon, returned to the lower yellow level, just as the orange rain-flood alert was lifted in Lozère.

The Loire and Haute-Loire have also been downgraded to yellow flood alert, according to the latest Météo-France bulletin published Sunday at 2:00 a.m.

“The south-southeast wind has weakened and no longer justifies maintaining orange vigilance,” indicates the meteorological institute.

“The rains in the Cévennes continue mainly in the Gard and the Ardèche. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the rains will gradually intensify tonight. This episode will end on Sunday morning,” continues Météo-France.

Frequent showers expected

A “Mediterranean episode” will be marked by strong wind and heavy precipitation until the night from Saturday to Sunday.

In the morning, we will see the rainy disturbance from the day before which will still water the regions of Hauts-de-France, Grand Est and up to the far east of PACA.

This rain will gradually stop in the morning, but further showers, sometimes stormy, are to be feared in the afternoon in PACA and Corsica.

In the rest of the country, after a dry and often quite sunny start to the day, a pattern of showers will set in on the Atlantic coast.

Showers will be frequent and will progress into the interior of New Aquitaine from midday, then reach Normandy, the Center, Limousin and Midi-Pyrénées in the afternoon and evening.

The westerly wind will strengthen at the bottom of the Bay of Biscay in the afternoon, as will the tramontane at 50 to 70 km/h at the end of the day.

Minimum temperatures will be 2 to 5°, with small frosts on the Auvergne, Pyrenees and Alpine terrain.

It will be milder by the sea with 7 to 11°C.

The maximums will be stationary compared to the day before, from 10 to 16 degrees in general, 17 to 18 on the eastern coast of Corsica.
