The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the Israeli occupation army’s admission of killing an elderly Palestinian in Gaza is an attempt to evade its systematic crimes against the Palestinians, calling on the international community to document the occupation’s crimes and hold it accountable.

The movement said in a statement that what was revealed by the Israeli media regarding the criminal occupation army’s acknowledgment of killing the deaf elderly Palestinian man, Atta Ibrahim al-Muqqid (73 years old), in a house west of Gaza City in cold blood and without posing any threat to the occupation soldiers, and announcing its intention to open an investigation into the crime, is... A misleading attempt by the Nazi occupation army to evade the systematic crimes it committed against Palestinian civilians after they were exposed and made public.

She added that this crime is one of many ongoing brutal crimes committed by the occupation army, including what Al Jazeera channel showed on Sunday of scenes showing the occupation army sniping and killing a Palestinian boy last December in the vicinity of Al Fakhoura School in Jabalia Camp.

Hamas called on the international community and international legal and judicial institutions to document these crimes, work to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes against innocent civilians that exceeded all limits, and take the necessary measures to stop the ongoing crime of genocide committed by the occupation army in the Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli media, the Israeli army admitted to killing the defenseless elderly man, of whom Al Jazeera published a video of his execution in a house west of Gaza, indicating that it was investigating the circumstances of his death.

The scenes - which were filmed by an Israeli soldier's camera - showed the moments when the soldiers stormed the house and killed the elderly man who was present alone in the house.
