Central African Republic: assessment of the fighting after the recapture of the town of Sikikédé

In the Central African Republic, the army general staff announces the recapture of the town of Sikikédé in the prefecture of Vakaga from the rebels of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC).

Thursday March 7, Sikikédé, a locality located in the far northeast of the country, came under the control of CPC rebels who threatened to extend their advance to other regions.

In a press release published on Saturday March 9, the general staff of the armies takes stock of the fighting and specifies that the sweep continues in the locality: " 

The intention of these enemies of peace is to maintain a climate of insecurity in the area, by testing their nuisance capacity with our force, in order to make national and international opinion understand that they are back to plunge the country into new chaos

 .

 Unfortunately for them, the Central African armed forces showed determination and professionalism, routing them by inflicting heavy losses with the following results: more than forty rebels killed and several motorcycles destroyed by the aviation;

several injured people on the run as well as a passport and a foreign identity card seized.

On the side of the Central African armed forces (FACA), there was recorded a case of injury and the loss of five elements who fell on the field of honor ,

As for the Coalition of Patriots for Change, in general, the army general staff asks them to lay down their arms without delay

,” declared Commander Franck Gonide, spokesperson for the general staff.
