China News Service, Beijing, March 10th: Use wisdom and technology to "renew" the black soil as representatives of the "post-85s" new farmers

China News Service reporter Zhang Wei

Around the time of the Waking of Insects, the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has gradually entered the plowing preparation season.

Before attending the National Two Sessions, Du Gang was still busy overhauling agricultural machinery and equipment, selecting seeds, and cleaning straw...

As a "post-85" National People's Congress representative, Du Gang, chairman of the Wudaohezi Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Professional Cooperative in Haolibao Town, Zhalaite Banner, Xing'an League, grew up in the countryside. After graduation, he chose to stay in his hometown and became a A new farmer.

In 2012, Du Gang established a cooperative to introduce new dry varieties of high-starch corn and high-quality rice, and used smart equipment to develop modern agriculture, becoming a well-known local "large grain grower".

The cooperative has also led local farmers to participate, focusing on the development of 16,000 acres of advantageous industries such as dry rice, high-protein soybeans, sugar beets, marigolds, and waxy corn, achieving large-scale operations and intensive management.

Under Du Gang's scientific management, more than 10,000 acres of land have had good harvests year after year.

He also shared his farming experience such as selective breeding and agricultural technology with surrounding farmers, so that the joy of harvest can be spread in this black land.

In 2022, Du Gang adjusted the agricultural planting structure and took the lead in implementing the soybean expansion plan, planting more than 3,000 acres of soybeans.

That year, the Zhalaite Banner soybean demonstration field set a high-yield record for dryland soybeans in Inner Mongolia. With an excellent soybean yield of 303.4 kilograms per mu, it won the honorary title of "Golden Bean King" (spring sowing net crop) in the national soybean high-yield competition, and the core technology " Soybean large ridge dense planting shallow burial drip irrigation cultivation technology" was selected as one of the 10 major new technologies in China's agricultural and rural areas.

For more than 10 years, Du Gang has actively applied modern agricultural technology to drive farmers to diversify and grow good grains.

In 2023, the local dry-fed rice yield will reach 1,000 kilograms per mu, an increase of more than 50 kilograms per mu; the corn yield will reach 2,362 kilograms per mu, an increase of more than 150 kilograms per mu; the soybean yield will exceed 550 kilograms per mu.

"In 2023, we will drive local employment income to more than 6 million yuan, solving the problem of local employment difficulties." Du Gang said.

"Let every inch of black land produce more food." Du Gang has been on the road of exploration and breakthrough.

At the National Two Sessions in 2024, he put forward suggestions on protecting the black soil in Northeast China.

"Taking Zhalaite Banner as an example, the black land area in the flag area is about 3.5673 million acres, accounting for 62.04% of the total cultivated land area. The grain output of the entire flag has been stable at more than 4.5 billion kilograms all year round, of which the grain output of black soil accounts for about 80%. Du Gang said that since 2015, Zhalaite Banner has implemented two phases of national black land protection and utilization projects, with a cumulative implementation area of 650,000 acres, and has explored the combination of engineering and biology, agricultural machinery and agronomy, and land use and land cultivation. Comprehensive protection and utilization technology model of black soil in Northeast China.

Du Gang believes that the overall scale of black soil in Inner Mongolia is large, but the protected and utilized area of black soil supported by policies is less than 6%. Therefore, it is urgent to strengthen the protection of black soil and curb the degradation of black soil.

How to improve the protection of black soil?

Du Gang suggested to achieve full coverage of black soil protection, increase capital investment, comprehensively implement measures to improve the quality of farmland, and maintain the continuity of policy support and project implementation; actively cultivate and expand various new business entities, improve high-standard farmland and socialization Construction standards and quality of services; support and encourage various scientific research units and universities to carry out technical cooperation in typical black soil banner counties and strengthen the construction of professional talent teams.
