On Sunday evening, Al Jazeera broadcast the names of Gaza’s martyrs in the Israeli war on the Strip, in its news studio, coinciding with the first night of the holy month of Ramadan in most Arab and Islamic countries.

Al-Jazeera broadcaster Iman Ayyad began the bulletin by saying, “These were the headlines...but the diaries of killing, bombing and starvation over a period of 156 days are what is behind these headlines.”

She added, "Tens of thousands of martyrs...here around us you see their names because they are not numbers."

She pointed out that "no family in the Gaza Strip was spared the loss of a loved one. The lists of names include all families. In fact, entire families in Gaza disappeared from the civil registry. They were killed by bombing, raids, and the destruction of residential areas or the war on hospitals, leading to a famine that kills hundreds of thousands."

She continued, "Here we review the names of 31,45 people, each with a name, a family, and a story to tell."

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 31,000 martyrs, most of them children and women, massive infrastructure destruction and a humanitarian catastrophe, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.” .

In its war on Gaza, Israel adopted a policy of destroying neighborhoods and residential squares above the heads of its residents, and placed hospitals on its list of targets, either by bombing or storming, in addition to the starvation policy that spread in the Strip, especially in the northern part of it, with its refusal to bring in aid by land.
