The opposition party in the United States, the Republican Party, has selected former President Trump's second son's wife and others to serve as executives on the party's national committee.

All of these candidates were recommended by Mr. Trump and appear to be aiming to strengthen the party's control in the run-up to the fall presidential election.

On the 8th, the National Committee, which oversees the organizational management of the American opposition party, the Republican Party, decided on new executive personnel and unanimously elected Lara Trump as the number two co-chair.

Lara is the wife of former President Trump's second son Eric, who Trump recommended last month as one of his successors when he called for a shake-up of the leadership of the national committee.

"Let's make America great again. Let's put Trump back in the White House," Lara called at the meeting.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Watley, the chairman of the North Carolina party committee, who had been recommended by Mr. Trump along with Mr. Lara, was elected as the top national committee chairman.

American media have reported that Mr. Watley has been sympathetic to Mr. Trump's claims that there was fraud in the last presidential election.

Mr. Trump appears to be aiming to strengthen his control over the party in the run-up to the autumn presidential election by sending his relatives to the core of the party.

In addition, it has been pointed out that Mr. Trump, who has multiple court cases, may be burdened with large amounts of legal fees and other expenses that may put pressure on his campaign finances, and there is a desire behind this appointment to use party funds to pay for court costs. There is also a view that this may be the case.
