UNRWA: We face the danger of dissolution

In turn, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the agency faces the risk of dissolution after countries suspended its funding.

Lazzarini added that the Palestinians in Gaza, who are facing unprecedented humanitarian conditions, have their fate at stake.

On the other hand, the mayor of Jabalia, Mazen Al-Najjar, said that the aid being dropped by air does not meet the need.

He added in an interview with Al Jazeera that the solution is to open the crossings, and that what is happening is starvation of the Palestinian people.

Israel does not allow aid trucks to enter from Egypt except in small quantities, according to the United Nations, which warns that 2.2 million Palestinians out of the 2.4 million residents of the small Strip are threatened by famine, with a major shortage of food and drinking water.
