Joe Biden is the oldest president in the history of the United States (Anatolia Agency)

Yesterday, Friday, an American political group announced plans to present a candidate for the presidential elections, raising Democrats’ fears that it would divide their electoral base.

The centrist No Labels organization, which is not an official political party and describes itself as a "national movement for common-sense Americans," said it would begin the process of selecting its candidate next week.

The organization did not name any potential candidates, and American media reported that several politicians associated with it have ruled out running, casting doubt on the challenge it may pose.

However, Democrats have expressed - albeit privately - concerns that No Labels could attract undecided voters and turn them away from Joe Biden in the November election race.

“Although we met virtually, their feelings and desires to bring this divided nation together were clear,” the group’s president, Mike Rawlings, said after an online meeting with members on Friday.

A statement quoted Rawlings as saying that 800 delegates voted - almost unanimously - in support of presenting a presidential candidate, adding that it is clear that these citizens believe that this is a just cause, and that No Labels should provide Americans with an additional option that they want.

“No Labels has not selected a candidate yet, and any names being bandied about are from others,” Ryan Clancy, the group’s chief strategist, wrote on the X platform. “We will announce the official selection process on Thursday, March 14, and will announce more details later.” ".

No Labels was founded in 2009 through the efforts of Democratic fundraising activist Nancy Jacobson, and she is currently the executive officer of the organization whose slogan is “No Left, No Right. Forward.”

The group presents itself on its website as a solution to many voters who are dissatisfied with the choice between Joe Biden, who is the oldest American president ever (81 years old), and former Republican President Donald Trump (77 years old), who faces judicial charges in several American states.
