According to the publication, an official representative of the F-35 production program said that certification was carried out in October 2023 for the B61-12 free-fall thermonuclear bomb.

“The F-35A is the first-ever fifth-generation aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons and the first new fighter and bomber platform to achieve this status since the early 1990s,” the statement said.

It is noted that certification was carried out only for aircraft of the F-35A modification.
