Two explosions occurred near a ship sailing 50 nautical miles southeast of the city of Aden on the coast of Yemen on Friday, according to the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority.

The British authority said in a post on the X platform that the ship’s captain reported the two explosions, but said that the ship and crew were safe.

The authority called on ships sailing in the region to "exercise caution and report any suspicious activities."

British maritime security company Ambrey also reported its knowledge of an accident approximately 52 nautical miles south of Aden.

In support of the Palestinian resistance in its response to the war on Gaza, the Ansar Allah Houthi group in Yemen targets ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel. They have expanded their attacks to include American and British ships after the start of the raids on Yemen last January.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for targeting more than 20 ships in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden over the past months.

For its part, the US Army announced that its forces bombed last night 4 anti-ship cruise missiles and a drone in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, and also shot down 3 drones launched from those areas.

Today, Friday, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced that it had carried out strikes against 4 mobile anti-ship cruise missiles and a Houthi drone in Yemen.

She added that during this time frame, US Central Command forces shot down 3 drones that were launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen towards the Gulf of Aden.
