The government media office in Gaza said that random airdrops of humanitarian aid caused the death of 5 Palestinians and several injuries when they fell on the heads of citizens as a result of the wrong landing.

The media office added that airdrops are ineffective and are not the best way to bring in aid.

He also indicated - in a statement - that part of this aid is located at sea, while another part is located near the separation fence or areas controlled by the occupation army, or within the occupied Palestinian territories.

Eyewitnesses reported that planes dropped a large number of aid boxes, but some of them did not open their parachutes properly, which led to them falling quickly on gatherings of Palestinians waiting to land.

According to witnesses, the boxes fell on Palestinian gatherings north of the Beach Camp, and on Al-Jalaa Street north of Gaza City.

Witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said that the fall of the boxes led to the death of a number of Palestinians and the injury of others while they were waiting for them to land, as they had become accustomed to during the past days.

The sources explained that the wounded were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital and the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.

The statement confirmed that 20 people were martyred due to famine, and that the number is likely to rise daily, calling for the opening of land crossings to bring in thousands of tons of aid immediately and urgently.

On the other hand, the Jordanian army said - in a statement today, Friday - that Royal Air Force aircraft once again carried out new airdrops of humanitarian aid to a number of sites in the northern Gaza Strip, with the participation of Egyptian, American, French, Belgian and Dutch aircraft.

The statement indicated that "this step comes within the ongoing Jordanian efforts and efforts to send more medical, relief and food aid to people in the Gaza Strip with the aim of alleviating the effects of the war and compensating for the acute shortage of food and medicine as a result of the continuation of the war."

For more than a week, Arab countries, namely Egypt, the Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, and Bahrain, have continued to carry out joint operations to drop food aid on the Gaza Strip, in addition to operations carried out by the United States.

As a result of the war and Israeli restrictions, the residents of Gaza, especially the Gaza and North governorates, are on the verge of famine, in light of a severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, with the displacement of about two million Palestinians from the Strip, which has been besieged by Israel for 17 years.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Israel being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide. .
