On Thursday, December 17, 1931, a Citroën C6 was found in the middle of a crossroads in the Bois de Vincennes, embedded in a tree.

The bumper is in poor condition.

On the carpets, the doors and the bench seat there are huge pools of blood, causing a funereal smell.

But where have the victims gone?

No trace around the vehicle suggests that they fled or were displaced... According to the first elements of the investigation, the vehicle was stolen the day before.

Then, we discovered that bloodstained clothes were burning on the road to Poissy, that the jump seat of the damaged vehicle was found in Magny-en-Vexin and that a witness saw a motorist throw something over the Triel bridge. … The crime scene therefore extends to the four corners of Île-de-France.

The investigation then turns out to be a real puzzle: it is the beginning of the red trail.

The clue that will change the situation, however, is a little button on your pants.

It allows investigators to trace the trail back to an American living on Boulevard des Capucines in Paris and named Richard Wall.

It remains to be seen whether this gangster, currently untraceable, is the victim or the culprit... Pierre Bellemare tells this incredible story in this episode of the podcast "The extraordinary stories of Pierre Bellemare", from the Europe 1 archives and produced by Europe 1 Studio.
