Sweden became the 32nd member of NATO on Thursday during a ceremony in Washington, United States.

The Scandinavian country chose, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to put an end to two centuries of non-alignment.

“Everything comes to those who wait,” declared the head of American diplomacy Antony Blinken, referring to a long ratification process among the 31 members.

The Secretary of State estimated that this integration demonstrates the “strategic debacle” suffered by Russia.
