Head of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Army, Vladimir Zarodnytsky, warned that the conflict in Ukraine was turning into a "full-scale war in Europe" and said that the possibility of Russian forces getting involved in a new conflict was growing "significantly."

Under the title “Military Thought,” Zarodnitsky - who holds the rank of Lieutenant General - wrote an article published by the Russian Ministry of Defense in which he stated, “The possibility of the conflict in Ukraine developing through an increase in proxy combat forces in the military confrontation with Russia cannot be ruled out, and the matter may reach the outbreak of an all-out war.” in Europe".

The military leader considered that the main source of military threats to his country is "the anti-Russian policy pursued by the United States and its allies, who are waging a new type of hybrid war with the aim of weakening Russia in all possible ways, restricting its sovereignty and destroying its territorial integrity."

In his article published by Russian media on Thursday, Zarodnitsky suggested "the possibility of Russia's involvement in new military conflicts," adding that this possibility is "increasing significantly."

The war waged by Russia in Ukraine sparked the worst crisis in its relations with the West since the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West that it risked igniting a nuclear war if it sent forces to fight in Ukraine.

Zarodnitsky's statements come at a time when the West is seeking to support Ukraine, by providing it with more weapons and funding after the failure of the counterattack launched by Kiev last summer, and after Russian forces regained the initiative on the battlefield.
