At a meeting of the Liberal Democratic Party's ``Political Reform Headquarters,'' Prime Minister Kishida discussed amending the party's rules, including establishing a system to punish members themselves in the event of malicious accounting practices. He emphasized that we must move forward with reforms that correct the sense of privilege among legislators and hold politicians accountable as well.

In response to issues surrounding factional political funding parties, the Liberal Democratic Party held a meeting of its ``Political Reform Headquarters'' at party headquarters on the 7th to discuss revisions to party rules and other matters.

At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida said, ``When various incidents occur, many people think, ``Why don't politicians take responsibility?'' is because we have a sense of privilege that ``politics is something special.'' If this is the case, we must move forward with reforms that will correct the situation and take the responsibility of politicians as a matter of course."

He then emphasized, ``We must move forward with a fundamental restructuring of the Liberal Democratic Party without being bound by precedent or custom. In order to regain the trust of the people, the Liberal Democratic Party must change.''

Under the proposed amendment, if an accounting officer is arrested or charged with violating the Political Funds Control Act, the lawmaker would be able to take punishment such as ``recommending him to leave the party'' or ``suspending his party membership.''

Furthermore, if the accounting officer is found to have been found guilty and it is recognized that there is a political or moral responsibility for causing distrust in politics, such as when a member of the Diet is involved, the party will be ``expelled'' or ``recommended to leave the party.'' .

The Liberal Democratic Party will gather opinions at a meeting on the 7th in order to revise party rules and other matters, and will make an official decision soon.
