A former member of the Communist Party who was expelled from the party for insisting that the chairman of the party should be elected by a vote of all party members has filed a lawsuit against the party, claiming that the procedure was illegal and demanding compensation. I did.

The person who filed the lawsuit in the Tokyo District Court on the 7th was Nobuyuki Shochiku, the former head of the Communist Party's security and foreign affairs department.

In January last year, Mr. Shochiku criticized then-Chairman Shii, who had served as the committee chairman for more than 20 years, as ``far from common sense among the people.'' He argued that an election should be held.

In response, the Communist Party imposed the most severe expulsion on Shochiku for violating the party's rules, which stipulated that he would not engage in acts hostile to the party.

According to the complaint, Mr. Shochiku argued that

the procedure was illegal in that he was not given a sufficient opportunity to express his opinion before the disciplinary action was taken, and that it

did not amount to ``acts hostile to the party,'' and he asked

the party to cancel the disciplinary action. They are seeking compensation of 5.5 million yen, including compensation.

At a press conference after filing the lawsuit, Shochiku said, ``I want to proceed with the trial with the hope that the Communist Party will change into an organization where we can discuss anything democratically.''

Regarding the complaint, the Communist Party commented, ``It is completely unjust. The expulsion was carried out strictly and properly based on the constitution. In the first place, political parties operate autonomously, so the judgment rights of the courts do not extend to them.'' .
