As the European elections approach,

Emmanuel Macron

is continuing his strategy which aims to “awaken public opinion” on the issues at stake in the Ukrainian conflict.

This is the Ukraine sequence, act 2 for Emmanuel Macron.

By meeting

French party leaders

, the president engages the political aspect of his remobilization strategy around the war in Ukraine.

The latter had been launched since President Zelensky's visit to France and

the conference on aid to Ukraine

organized in Paris.

At the end of this, he put his foot down, raising the possibility of sending troops there.

Europeans in the crosshairs

This closed session is a way for the president to put the Ukrainian issue back at the heart of the European and national debate, in an agenda that owes nothing to chance.

In three months, there are the European elections.

And to hear an elected representative from the majority: “

for the first time, we are going to touch people’s daily lives

 ” in this campaign.

The war brings to the fore the questions of “sovereignty, defense, energy”.

A minister also explains that we must put the debate around this election at the right level: “war or peace”, in particular by asking the question to the National Rally.

And to know if the party wants “Russia’s victory or not?”

".

Emmanuel Macron therefore puts on his costume as a war and campaign leader.
