Occupation forces arrest Palestinians in Ramallah two days ago (French)

A young Palestinian man died on Thursday from wounds sustained by Israeli occupation bullets in Nablus in the occupied West Bank, while the Israeli occupation forces arrested 40 Palestinians, including former prisoners and 4 women.

The martyr was injured two days ago when the occupation forces opened fire on Palestinians during their storming of the village of Burin, south of Nablus.

This brings to 424 the number of Palestinians killed by the occupation forces and their settlers in the West Bank since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7th.

Also in Nablus, Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that since this morning, settlers have continued to close the "Sarra" checkpoint, southwest of the city.

The Israeli army had reopened the checkpoint to the Palestinians, after closing it on October 7th.

The reporter added that the settlers are staging a sit-in in front of the checkpoint to prevent Palestinian vehicles from passing.

The “Sarra” checkpoint connects the city of Nablus to the cities of the central and southern West Bank, and is the main entrance to the villages east of Qalqilya towards Nablus.

Arrest campaign

In a related context, the occupation forces arrested 40 Palestinians in Tubas, Tulkarm, Bethlehem, and Hebron.

Among the detainees are former prisoners and 4 women, one of whom is former prisoner journalist Bushra al-Taweel.

Thus, the number of detainees in the West Bank rose to 7,490, since the start of the war on Gaza.

For its part, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club announced that the occupation has arrested, since October 7, about 240 women from the occupied West Bank and the 1948 territories.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, corresponding to March 8, the club said in a statement, “This year is the bloodiest year on the part of Israel against Palestinian women.”

Condemning settlement

In a related matter, international condemnation of Israel’s decision to build more than 3,400 settlement units in the West Bank has increased.

The European Union condemned the decision and urged Israel to reverse it.

He considered the decision to expand settlements illegal, constitutes an obstacle to peace, and threatens the two-state solution.

In turn, the UN coordinator for the peace process in the region, Tor Wensland, condemned the Israeli move, stressing "again that all settlements are illegal under international law."

I condemn yesterday's reported advancement by #Israel of plans for ~ 3,400 housing units in settlements in o.

West Bank.

All settlements are illegal under international law, & I urge #Israel to cease all settlement activity & refrain from provocative actions.

The coordinator said: “We urge Israel to stop all settlement activities and refrain from provocative actions,” adding that “settlement expansion continues to be a driver of the conflict and further entrenches the occupation in the West Bank.”

Earlier Thursday, the State of Qatar condemned the Israeli decision, and said that the matter represents a blatant attack on the rights of the Palestinian people.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said - in a statement today, Thursday - that the approval of these settlement units represents a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution No. 2334.
